Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer to join our team in our Charlotte, NC office. Candidate will provide I&C system engineering services and develop designs for the water and wastewater industry with a focus in our Mid-Atlantic Region. Work includes both in-plant and remote telemetry projects with the potential for HMI/PLC
programming/configuration
work. Candidate will engage in Hazen’s collaborative approach to deliver and meet our clients’ needs by: Preparing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, control panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details. Coordinating with the other disciplines
(process/mechanical,
structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil). Performing quality reviews of BIM models, Revit families, and CAD based files used in the production of contract documents. Inspect, witness equipment testing, and approve of I&C work provided by contractors at water and wastewater facilities. Qualifications and Skills Required Expert level proficiency in I&C design Must know how to use AutoCAD, or AutoCAD Plant 3D, or be willing to learn. Strong knowledge of bid documents including I&C plans, technical specifications, and cost estimating, Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, Task focused and willing to learn, Strong organizational and communication skills. Must have a PE license, or ability to obtain within one year of employment. Preferred Multiple years of experience performing I&C design for public sector water/wastewater clients, Demonstrated understanding of processes and equipment for various water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and conveyance systems, PLC/HMI
configuration/programming
experience Experience mentoring junior engineers, designers, and other staff, Experience communicating and coordinating with clients. Education Required BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
