ARB Underground is seeking a
Field Engineer
for its
Fairfield, CA
location. This position will support the Project Manager and review project bid documents, permits, and proposals prior to the start of construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager.
Review project bid documents, permits, and proposals before construction activities.
Participate in management meetings (in person preferred).
Provide feedback to managers and the project team.
Provide office and field support; if the assigned project site is shut down, work from the office.
Mark and call‑in USA, keep electronic records on Shared/Drive.
Collect on‑site data using Locus/View GPS systems and software before backfill operation.
Track and submit weekly quantity trackers.
Coordinate and attend GSR review and field meetings with PG&E to review proposed Gas Services; may require behind‑the‑meter plumbing, permitting, and coordination with ARB plumbers.
Coordinate with foremen and Project Manager to provide schedule updates.
Create RFI/change‑order estimates with input from the Superintendent.
Identify out‑of‑scope work or change in conditions that require an RFI.
Coordinate notifications to property owners.
Track and monitor project as‑built and final GSR submittals.
Work with Project Manager and Scheduler to update the project schedule.
Basic Qualifications
Focus on safety.
3–5 years of college experience, working toward a Construction or Project Management degree.
Strong construction background or desire to learn the industry.
Ability to work well with field crews.
Ability to multi‑task and prioritize.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic understanding of GPS systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and web‑based software applications.
90 % field time; remote work capability.
Work Schedule
5‑day, 8‑hour schedule: 0700 – 1530 hrs (typical).
Optional 4‑day, 10‑hour schedule: 0700 – 1700 hrs (for civil crews on the same schedule).
If the assigned project site is shut down, work from the office.

Compensation:
$70,000 – $90,000 per year (pay based on experience).
