to serve as functional manager for project engineering teams assigned to support multiple programs. This position will be primarily located at

Promontory, UT

with additional support for teams located at

Clearfield, UT

and

Hill Air Force Base, UT . Roles And Responsibilities

The Project Engineering Functional Manager is expected to make daily contributions as both a project engineering technical contributor (~80% of time) and people leader (~20% of time). Project engineers typically lead a cross‑functional team, with technical responsibility for a solid rocket motor subsystem, throughout each phase of the life cycle (including development, production, and sustainment). Project engineers refine work scope, define a detailed execution plan, coordinate necessary resources, and manage execution to ensure the product delivered meets customer requirements and business objectives. Project engineering blends technical product knowledge (design, analysis, materials, manufacturing, inspection, test, etc) with aspects of systems engineering and program management. As a functional people manager for teams of project engineers assigned to support multiple programs, the manager will work closely with program chief engineers to forecast work demand, staff project engineering team assignments, and ensure a high level of performance. As part of a functional leadership team, the manager will help sustain a talent development pipeline to develop technical leaders ready to meet emergent needs and support individuals through career development. The manager will also be responsible for implementing effective standards, processes, and tools to maintain engineering rigor and support continuous improvement. Job Duties

Execute individual project engineering role in a program assignment Functional people manager for mid- to senior-level (T03+) project engineers Partner with program chief engineers to identify work demand, implement staffing, facilitate detailed task planning, manage execution to ensure work is consistent with functional standards and meets program needs Develop people – sustain talent pipeline, drive high-performance expectations, provide training, facilitate mentoring, coordinate development plans, maintain critical skills Implement effective processes – own functional standards, define team workflows, utilize metrics to drive continuous improvement Governance of digital tools – identify use cases, define roadmaps that support digital transformation and integration across the business, manage change Support proposals, investigations and problem‑solving teams as needed Basic Qualifications

Minimum 8 Years’ relevant experience with BS in Engineering; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD Knowledge of solid rocket motor design, development, qualification, production and sustainment desired, or similar aerospace products Experience using project management tools and methods Prior managerial experience or lead role managing projects/programs, resources, developing others, and building high‑performing teams Strong organizational skills necessary to independently manage individual work while also managing work of project engineering teams spanning multiple programs Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to build effective relationships with program and functional leaders, lead large-scale organizational change primarily through influence Takes ownership to proactively identify opportunities for improvement through direct technical work, then drives for results to implement across function with limited resources Current DOD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of systems engineering processes and model‑based tools Experience with Engineering Enterprise tools (PLM, ERP, Costpoint/SAP, etc.) Education and Certifications

Engineering degree required, advanced degree preferred Certification/degree or equivalent experience in Agile Engineering Project Program Management (experience with Agile methods a bonus preferred) Certification or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering preferred The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
