Pay: $55/hr; affiliated with Local 602 union. Willing to pay over scale for the right person.
Certifications & Training
EPA 608 Universal Certification (required)
OSHA 10/30 Safety Training (preferred; must complete within 90 days if not held)
OEM/Factory Training (at least one preferred, multiple strongly preferred):
Carrier Chiller Certification (19XR, 19XRV, 23XRV, AquaEdge, etc.)
Trane CenTraVac / Series R Factory Training
York YK/YT/YVAA Chiller Certification
Daikin/McQuay Water-Cooled Chiller Certification
VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) factory or equivalent training (ABB, Danfoss, Trane, etc.)
BAS/Controls familiarity (Johnson, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane Tracer, Carrier i‑Vu)
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Minimum of 5–7 years of hands‑on water‑cooled chiller service experience
Proficient in centrifugal, screw, and absorption chiller technologies
Ability to perform tear‑downs, overhauls, and tube brushing/cleaning
Strong understanding of refrigerant handling, reclaim, recovery, and charging (including A2L refrigerants)
Skilled in reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and control schematics
Experience with eddy current testing coordination and reporting
Knowledge of cooling tower interface and condenser water treatment requirements
Tools & Equipment
Owns and maintains a complete set of HVAC tools (gauges, meters, recovery machine, torque wrenches, laptop interface tools, etc.)
Familiar with diagnostic software and factory interfaces for Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, etc.
Experience in vibration analysis and oil/refrigerant sample testing
Safety & Compliance
Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures
Ability to perform confined space work (cooling towers, mechanical rooms)
Experience with high‑voltage equipment (4160V starters, medium‑voltage chillers)
Strong track record of safe work practices with no major safety violations
Professional Attributes
Strong communication skills with customers and internal team
Detailed service reporting and documentation ability (Spectrum/eSub/Salesforce experience a plus)
Ability to mentor apprentices and junior techs
Reliable transportation and clean driving record, clean background and drug test
Willingness to be part of rotating on‑call schedule for emergency service
