Responsibilities Job Purpose
This position will have accounting responsibility for:
one or more operating wind and/or solar projects
one or more operator (intercompany service provider) entities
assigned subject matter areas (currently land lease and royalty, turbine operations and maintenance, availability warranty, inventory, and intercompany)
The incumbent will work closely with other accountants within the accounting group based in Houston and San Francisco, as well as individuals from other groups such as finance, land, legal, asset management, and tax.
Key Accountabilities
Full accounting and general ledger responsibility including preparation of periodic standalone financial statements for one or more projects.
Full accounting and general ledger responsibility for assigned subject matter areas and the cross-functional dependencies.
Read, interpret, and summarize project contracts to assure proper compliance and accounting.
Prepare account analyses and reconciliations on a monthly basis.
Ensure that monthly, quarterly, year-end, and special project deadlines and requirements are met.
Hands‑on use, data entry and navigation of Pattern’s general ledger, and reporting software (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, and Power BI).
Assist with quarterly and annual reporting requirements – primarily focused on compilation of footnotes and applicable disclosures.
Adhere to internal controls.
Maintain schedules to support tax filing requirements.
Set‑up and maintain the accounting and permanent files for existing and new projects.
Perform accounting research as needed.
Communicate with Pattern domestic offices, third parties and within the accounting group to coordinate information gathering and resolve accounting issues.
Assist with annual budget preparation and monthly forecast updates.
Special projects as needed.
Qualifications Educational Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent major required.
Required and Preferred Work Experience
Minimum of 2‑5 years of relevant accounting experience
Familiarity with Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements
The following experience is preferred:
Renewable energy industry experience
Power plant accounting
Accounting experience at a US public company
Consolidation, equity‑method accounting with minority interests
International accounting experience
Additional Requirements
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong "hands on" technical skills with attention to detail.
Strong technical and analytical accounting background and familiarity or experience with complex accounting issues, consolidations, US GAAP and IFRS issues, foreign currency translation, multiple corporate structures, equity, and investment accounting.
Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects; preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow‑up.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow‑through and minimal supervision.
Self‑starter with flexibility, desire, and eagerness to learn and assume new responsibilities while maintaining ownership of the projects.
Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills. Must be able to meet with and participate in Operations meetings and be well versed in the project contracts to contribute to these meetings. Ability to build and maintain consensus within a team.
Technical Skills
Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Reporting software (Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, and Power BI).
Compensation and Benefits The expected starting pay range for this role is $90,000 USD – $110,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full‑time employees of all levels.
