Process Control Engineer – Chemical Process Industry
Position Summary
A well-established U.S. chemical manufacturer operates with inherently safer production technology that converts fundamental raw materials into essential industrial products. By producing chemicals on-site through advanced processes, the company reduces traditional transportation risks while ensuring a reliable, sustainable supply to surrounding communities. The Process Control Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and advancing process automation systems that drive safe, stable, and efficient plant operations. This role is integral to optimizing automation performance, improving reliability, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Responsibilities:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve existing Allen-Bradley ControlLogix DCS programming and operator interfaces
Calibrate, repair, and maintain smart field instruments, control valves, and analyzers
Develop and implement preventive and scheduled maintenance programs for control systems and field instruments
Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting, safety interlocks, and advanced process control schemes to enhance operability, profitability, and reliability
Support project development, installation, and startup phases with process control expertise
Participate in PHA’s, PSSR’s, incident investigations, and unit troubleshooting
Ensure compliance with OSHA, industry standards, and best practices for process safety and reliability
Act as technical lead on internal and external teams for automation-related projects of varying scope and complexity
Requirements:
B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Process Controls Engineer in a continuous chemical manufacturing environment
Proven experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix systems and Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix, RSNetWorx, FactoryTalk, RSLinx, Historian, etc.)
Rockwell preferred
Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of communication protocols (Ethernet TCP/IP, Modbus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to work across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams with a strong safety focus
Expertise in advanced control strategies, loop tuning, and automation performance assessments
Familiarity with commercial aspects of control system upgrades and service contracts

Base Pay Range $145,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr
