Position Overview:
We have an immediate need for a locum Gastroenterology Physician to provide gastroenterology services for our veteran population at the Central Iowa VA Healthcare System located in Des Moines, IA. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans lives while experiencing the beauty where the Great Plaines intersect the Midwest.
Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive clinical gastroenterology services including the full range of colonoscopy and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) procedures such as: Colonoscopy o Colonoscopy via colostomy o Colonoscopy w/biopsy(ies) o Colonoscopy w/ablation of tumor/polyp/lesion o Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique o Colonoscopy w/out biopsy o Colonoscopy w/ submucosal o Colonoscopy control of bleeding Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) o EGD diagnostic o EGD w/biopsy(ies) o EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forceps o EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique o EGD w/variceal banding o EGD control of bleeding
Provide consultative services at the patient s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
BC/BE: Must have completed a residency in Internal Medicine and be Board Certified in accordance with American Board of Internal Medicine s Gastroenterology Standards.
Credentialling and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks.
Hours & Schedule: Inpatient/Phone Consult/Question Only Consultation: Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:00pm (excluding federal holidays). Scheduled procedures will be scheduled 8:00am 5:00pm
Items Required for Submission: Current CV without any gaps over 30 days since completion of medical school- written explanations are accepted One active, unrestricted Medical License in any state Current DEA BLS- American Heart Association (AHA) required ACLS - American Heart Association (AHA) Proof of BC/BE 3 Current References
