Accountable and responsible for managing business critical processes across a line of business or corporate function. This includes overseeing critical data elements (CDEs) within their assigned Data Domains and coordinating enterprise-wide Data Domain-related activities in alignment with data management and governance policies, standards, and best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Define and validate business critical processes and the associated critical data elements (CDEs) that support them.
Business Metadata Management
Onboard new CDEs specific to Business Unit or Corporate Group, collaborating with Technical Data Stewards.
Propose new CDEs and Data Domains to the Data Domain Working Group for approval.
Review assigned CDEs and their business metadata on a regular basis with the Metadata Center of Excellence (COE).
Execute CDE change requests in coordination with Metadata COE and Technical Data Stewards.
Submit CDE change requests for approval to the Data Domain Working Group and associated stakeholders.
Perform business process and traceability mapping with Business Unit representatives, Metadata COE, and Technical Data Stewards.
Review trusted source assignments with Technical Data Stewards.
Data Quality
Define Data Quality rules and standards for the Business Unit or Corporate Group.
Coordinate with Data Quality Lead, Data Quality Issues Management Group, and Data Domain Working Group to align rules with enterprise-level standards.
Partner with Technical Business Stewards to deploy Data Quality rules into appropriate systems.
Monitor Data Quality activities, track data issues and risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
Participate in Data Quality Issue Management Group, providing specific information.
Escalate Data Quality issues to the Enterprise Data Governance Council as necessary.
Assist in resolving Data Quality issues within the Business Unit, Corporate Group, or relevant working groups.
Enterprise Metadata Repository / Metadata Catalogue
Onboard new CDEs and business metadata with Metadata COE.
Update the central metadata repository with business terms, definitions, classifications, and associated Data Quality rules.
Review CDE metadata regularly with Metadata COE.
Execute CDE metadata update requests through Metadata COE.
Obtain approval for metadata changes from the Data Domain Working Group.
Data Privacy, Security, Retention and Archiving
Define Data Privacy rules and align them with the Enterprise Privacy Policy in collaboration with the Chief Privacy Officer.
Define archiving, retention, and data destruction requirements for CDEs with the CDAO and Chief Privacy Officer.
Monitor data security for CDEs within the Business Unit or Corporate Group.
Report or Escalate data privacy issues to the Data Privacy Group.
Ensure compliance with the Privacy Policy and other corporate policies.
Promote corporate strategy, policy, and ethics for all data consumers.
Monitor compliance with national and regional regulations and corporate ethical standards.
Data Sharing, Access Control and Data Transfer
Define Data Sharing agreements, detailing the data involved, use limitations, and dissemination restrictions.
Align sharing agreements with Data Privacy rules and corporate policies.
Monitor and enforce data security for shared data.
Escalate privacy concerns to the Data Privacy Group as needed.
Ensure alignment with national and regional regulations.
Maintain ethical standards for data sharing and access control.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Advanced education and experience equivalent to 15 years of managing software engineers and systems analysts, 10 years of business experience, 5 years managing large staff (including managers), and 5 years of budget responsibilities.
Ability to translate enterprise-level strategic planning into software and data management solutions and to create and execute effective business plans.
Executive-level communication skills, including strong negotiation, facilitation, and presentation abilities, with experience negotiating with vendors.
Extensive knowledge of current and emerging application software products and tools.
Proven project management experience, including multi-million-dollar projects delivered on time, within budget, and with quality outcomes.
Strong analytical and architectural skills.
Ability to manage high-volume internal client relationships.
Knowledge of all phases of the software engineering life cycle and process improvement models.
Preferred Qualifications:
Senior leadership experience in a financial institution, prioritizing financial crime prevention.
Extensive knowledge of Data and Analytics, including emerging trends.
Strong understanding of banking operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Project management experience and proficiency in budgeting.
Familiarity with machine learning, data analytics, and artificial intelligence in financial contexts.
Experience in banking or financial services, especially in a specialized niche area.
