Summary This position is responsible for acquiring qualified, high‑quality Historical Manuscripts auction consignments. The Consignment Director will build and maintain relationships with collectors, institutions, and dealers; evaluate property; and contribute to marketing and sales strategies for the Manuscripts category.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with senior management to grow and refine the Manuscripts category within Heritage Auctions.
Source exceptional consignments from private collections, estates, dealers, and other institutions.
Generate and pursue leads independently and through Heritage Auctions’ internal resources.
Evaluate manuscripts for authenticity, historical importance, and market value.
Negotiate terms of consignment and maintain positive consignor relationships.
Collaborate with marketing to effectively promote Manuscripts auctions and private treaty sales.
Expand the Manuscripts client base by identifying and engaging new buyers and sellers.
Travel as required to meet clients, review collections, and participate in key events.
Assist with catalog production, proofing text, imagery, and press materials.
Contribute to the development of educational content and promotional campaigns that highlight the category.
Requirements Education and Experience
5+ years of experience in an auction house, dealer, or major institution specializing in Historical Documents or related materials.
Demonstrated expertise in autographs, letters, documents, archives, or historical ephemera.
Experience with institutional or private collection curation is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Detail‑oriented and organized; capable of managing multiple projects.
Self‑starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
Dedication to customer service and professional integrity.
