Position Summary
The Senior Director – Materials will lead the strategic direction and operational execution of all materials management functions, including procurement, inventory control, supplier performance, and logistics. This role is critical to ensuring supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with ebm‑papst’s sustainability and innovation goals.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive materials strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
Lead cross‑functional initiatives to optimize supply chain performance and reduce costs.
Own and Lead the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process to align demand forecasting, supply planning, and inventory control across departments.
Collaborate with global teams to support international sourcing and logistics.
Procurement & Supplier Management
Oversee sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
Serve as the lead negotiator with suppliers, developing and managing contracts that support strategic sourcing, cost control, and long‑term partnerships.
Ensure supplier compliance with quality, sustainability, and delivery standards.
Build strong supplier relationships to support innovation and risk mitigation.
Inventory & Logistics
Manage inventory levels to balance cost and availability.
Implement best practices in warehouse operations and distribution.
Drive continuous improvement in material flow and logistics efficiency.
Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing materials team.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
Promote employee growth through training and development programs.
Systems & Reporting
Leverage ERP and digital tools to enhance visibility and decision‑making.
Monitor KPIs and provide regular performance reports to executive leadership.
Support digital transformation initiatives within the supply chain.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of progressive experience in materials management, preferably in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
Proven leadership in strategic sourcing, inventory optimization, and supplier development.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and digital supply chain tools.
