Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

We are seeking a Structural Engineer (Buildings) to join our Dallas or Fort Worth, Texas office as part of Jacobs Federal Solutions design team. Collaborating with our diverse team of architects and engineers, you’ll design structural systems for a variety of building types including airports, government facilities, mission‑critical facilities, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities. Design criteria may include progressive collapse, blast, seismic retrofit, and other unique loading requirements (e.g., simulator, vehicle, thermal gradient).

The successful candidate will be a self‑motivated licensed professional with at least 12 years of progressive structural engineering experience.

Key Responsibilities

Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.

Lead and mentor other structural engineers and BIM designers through project execution.

Design and analyze structures to meet project‑specific and code requirements utilizing finite element analysis and hand calculations.

Solve complex, real‑world problems for clients and owners using your professional skills and engineering judgment.

Develop clear and comprehensive calculations, basis of design documents, drawings, and specifications.

Perform construction administration activities including review of submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings; construction walkthroughs; and field fixes.

Coordinate and communicate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines – including presentations, reports, studies, design review meetings, and training.

Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, and project management.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project managers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis (Master’s degree preferred)

Professional Engineer (PE) license

12+ years of relevant buildings‑related structural design experience

Proficiency with structural design and analysis software (e.g., ETABS, RISA, STAAD.Pro, RAM)

Thorough knowledge of building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI)

Desire to take independent initiative and ownership of work, and an eagerness to learn

Strong written and verbal communication skills

United States citizenship (due to Federal client requirements)

Experienced in design of structures using structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and other industry‑standard materials.
