Under the supervision of the Assistant Deputy Director, Programs, Reentry and Rehabilitative Services, directs and monitors all educational functions.
Directs all activities pertaining to educational operations of the Palmetto Unified School District (PUSD) within the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
Ensures inmates are provided quality academic instruction and varying vocational training opportunities preparing them for successful reentry into society.
Oversee academic instruction in nine (9) EFA high schools, adult and vocational education in all institutions, while expanding DOL certified apprenticeship programs across the agency.
Demonstrates effective and motivational management and leadership; represents the school district in the administration of all federal projects.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

SCDC Minimum Requirements: Master's degree; valid SC professional certificate elementary, middle, or secondary level; verification of total of three years' experience as a Pre-K-12
OR Postsecondary teacher and two years as a school or school district administrator, postsecondary administrator, or school business administrator; and completion of program approved by the State Board of Education for the training of school superintendents.
SCDC preferred requirements are current superintendent's certification; educational administration, PhD., a total of five (5) years as a K-12 teacher and five (5) years as a school or school district administrator. Applications must include the following: a letter of interest, a copy of the superintendent certification and three current professional letters of recommendation (written within the past 6 months). Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a current resume with undergraduate and graduate work, additional educational preparation and/or certifications, community activities, and previous professional experience.
