Senior Legal Counsel . The Legal Team delivers pragmatic and innovative legal solutions while protecting the company from unacceptable risk. As Remote expands into new products and customer bases, the volume and complexity of legal issues grow. The Core Team supports legal and operational needs, allowing specialized sub‑teams to focus on high‑priority matters. What you bring Experienced and qualified lawyer Interest in working in a tech‑scaleup, specifically HR‑tech Extensive experience in legal practice, preferably in labor and employment law Ability to learn Remote’s tools (Slack, Notion, Google Drive, ZenDesk) Eagerness to learn about global employment laws Creative legal thinker, delivering innovative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions Excellent communication skills; fluent in English, additional languages a plus Ability to work autonomously and lead legal projects Experience mentoring junior legal professionals Key Responsibilities Partner with internal stakeholders (Sales, Customer Experience, Onboarding, Lifecycle, operations) to manage expectations and adopt a customer‑centric approach Identify improvement areas and develop exemplary templates, playbooks, SOPs, and knowledge resources, especially for the EOR product Conduct in‑depth legal research on new products and laws, assessing risks and opportunities Drive development and enhancement of the legal function, implementing best practices and innovative solutions Mentor, train, and support junior legal team members Manage relationships with local counsel and lead litigation and collections matters when necessary Proactively propose innovative solutions to legal problems and processes Manage internal and client escalations and collaborate with the Legal Ops team on AI projects Practicals Report to: Managing Counsel, Core Team Team: Legal, Core Team Location: Anywhere in the world Start date: As soon as possible Application process Interview with recruiter Interview with hiring manager Written exercise Interview with senior managing counsel and associate general counsel Bar raiser interview Prior employment verification check Benefits Work from anywhere Flexible paid time off Flexible working hours (async) 16 weeks paid parental leave Mental health support services Stock options Learning budget Home office budget & IT equipment Budget for local social events or co‑working spaces How You’ll Plan Your Day (and Life) Remote’s async culture lets you schedule work around life, not meetings.
