Role Overview The PR Director leads a portfolio of fashion, lifestyle, and culture accounts, setting strategic direction while remaining closely involved in day-to-day execution. This role owns the development of integrated communications strategies, high‑impact storytelling, and relationship‑building across media, influencers, and key industry stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings 6–8 years of agency experience, proven success running complex campaigns, and the ability to guide both clients and internal teams with confidence and clarity. This position is fully in‑person in New York City and requires occasional evenings and weekends for events, launches, and activations.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership

Serve as senior strategic lead and day‑to‑day counsel for assigned client accounts.

Develop annual communications strategies, launch roadmaps, and narrative frameworks aligned to client business goals.

Identify trends, whitespace, and competitive dynamics to inform positioning and messaging.

Advise clients on brand architecture, reputation, and channel strategy across earned, owned, and paid media.

Proactively generate thought‑starters, tentpole ideas, and campaign concepts that elevate brand visibility.

Media & Influencer Relations

Own senior‑level relationships with top editors, writers, stylists, producers, and talent agents.

Secure high‑impact coverage across print, digital, social, and broadcast outlets.

Oversee the development of press releases, media alerts, pitches, backgrounders, and briefing documents.

Design and manage influencer and creator programs, including talent identification, outreach, contracting, and performance analysis.

Ensure brand stories are translated into compelling, timely, and culturally relevant narratives.

Campaign Development & Execution

Lead multi‑channel campaign planning that spans PR, social, content, events, and partnerships.

Partner cross‑functionally with creative, social, and digital teams to deliver integrated 360° initiatives.

Oversee event concepts and execution—including launches, presentations, and experiential activations.

Define campaign KPIs, monitor performance, and optimize tactics in real time.

Prepare clear, insight‑driven recaps and reports for clients and internal stakeholders.

Act as senior advisor on sensitive issues, emerging risks, and crisis scenarios.

Develop and manage issues response plans, including messaging, escalation pathways, and stakeholder communication.

Draft talking points, statements, FAQs, and internal guidance as needed.

Monitor news and social chatter to anticipate and mitigate potential reputational risks.

Manage and mentor a team of PR professionals across multiple accounts.

Set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and support career development.

Foster a collaborative, solutions‑oriented environment that values creativity, accountability, and excellence.

Oversee workload planning, ensuring resources are aligned with priorities and deadlines.

Business & Operational Excellence

Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and support new business efforts.

Contribute to proposals, credentials, case studies, and pitch presentations.

Manage budgets, scopes, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.

Champion process improvements, tools, and best practices that enhance team performance and output quality.

Qualifications

6–8 years of experience in public relations, communications, or integrated marketing.

Strong background in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, or culture‑focused brands.

Demonstrated success leading multi‑faced PR campaigns and managing key client relationships.

Established relationships with relevant media and influencers.

Proven experience with issues management and reputation protection.

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills; confident presenter and facilitator.

Comfortable working with data, setting KPIs, and translating results into insights.

Experience managing and developing junior and mid‑level team members.

Proficiency with industry tools (e.g. Cision, Muck Rack, Launchmetrics) and standard office software.

In‑person role based in New York City, five days per week.

Fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with a focus on collaboration and creativity.

Requires flexibility for evenings and weekends to support events, shoots, and key launches.
