Public Safety Operations Supervisor – Full Time Essential Responsibilities / Duties
Oversee Public Safety operations as assigned by the Manager. Continuously monitor activities of Public Safety staff, control center technicians, and parking/transportation services during off‑hours. Assist staff and collaborate with other management to ensure consistent service delivery to faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors. Conduct regular tours and spot checks of the assigned area. Meet regularly with the Operations Manager and Director of Public Safety to report incidents and activities. Supervise and organize activities to achieve department goals through policy and procedure development. Assist in developing annual Quality Assurance Programs. Implement reporting procedures to comply with JC and other regulatory standards. Manage records, reports, and statistics, including incident profiles submitted to the Security Investigative Unit. Enforce hospital and school policies, including visitor control and access. Monitor all assigned operations. Ensure efficient fulfillment of all services and responsibilities. Ensure automated systems function, coordinating maintenance and system upgrades. Provide mandatory training programs and coordinate with other departments. Review operational issues such as contracted services, scheduling, contingency actions, investigations, and labor issues. Select, orient, and train all employees within assigned areas. Evaluate staff performance annually and submit evaluations to the Operations Manager. Develop scheduling matrices to reflect manpower needs per shift. Justify scheduling adjustments to the Operations Manager. Attend grievance proceedings in accordance with policy and collective bargaining agreements. Participate in meetings, committees, and task forces to provide assistance and resources. Notify the Operations Manager of all activities. Maintain pager contact as required. Education and Job Requirements
B.A. or B.S. (or equivalent); Management or Criminal Justice preferred. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Proficiency with Macintosh and IBM‑compatible software (Word, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of facilities management and security alarm systems, card access, and video hardware/software. Knowledge of all security system hardware. Appointability as a “Special Police Officer” under Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 22. Valid Massachusetts driver’s license. CPR and First Aid certification for special police officer. Experience
4‑6 years of preference, with a minimum of five years in medical center security or equivalent, including at least three years of supervisory responsibility. Compensation
$27.88‑$40.38 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, and market data. Total compensation includes benefits, bonuses, retirement contributions, paid time off, and opportunities for advancement. Equal Opportunity Employer – Disabled/Veterans.
