Job Overview
Lead the Way in Tax Compliance: Tax Manager (Hybrid) Wanted! We seek an experienced Tax Manager to spearhead our tax provisions, ensuring U.S. income tax reporting (federal, state, and international), tax controversy, mergers and acquisitions support, indirect tax reporting, and driving continuous improvement to reduce the Company’s overall tax burden and risk. This hybrid role (4 days in‑office in Des Plaines, IL) is the next career move for a highly skilled and licensed Tax Manager ready to advance into a lead tax role.
Salary & Schedule
Salary Range: $124,000 - $158,000 per year
Schedule: 8:30am‑5pm Monday‑Friday (4 days in‑office, Des Plaines, IL)
Responsibilities
Oversee Key Tax Processes: Prepare and review year‑end tax provisions and quarterly estimates/extensions for federal and state returns, assist in the review and filing of corporate federal & state income tax returns and international information returns, and review and analyze data to support tax controversy, indirect tax, and technical research.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Help drive the continuous improvement of tax processes and procedures as the company expands in new and established markets, lead the evolution of tax technology tools and support technology enhancements, and support mergers, acquisitions, reorganization, and business initiatives, including special projects such as R&D and Transfer Pricing Studies.
Strategic Collaboration: Effectively collaborate across tax disciplines and the wider company matrix for tax-related work executed outside the tax department, work with external firms, and support and advise the Executive Management Team on various tax matters and upcoming law changes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Advanced Degree strongly preferred
CPA required
6+ years of accounting experience (3+ years in public accounting minimum required), including at least:
6+ years of federal and state corporate income tax compliance experience
3+ years of tax provision experience (ASC 740)
Strong interpersonal skills and consistent follow‑through on assigned tasks
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office required
Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner and in a team environment
Strong aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Integrity and sound judgment in all decisions and interactions aligned with our values and policies, and external regulations.
