Your Job DEPCOM Power, an EPC firm and Koch Engineered Solutions company, is looking for a Senior Project Development Engineer. This role will be based out of either the Bedminster, NJ, Scottsdale, AZ or Houston, TX offices.

This is an exciting engineering role that supports and partners with our Business Development team. As a senior technical leader, you will drive the development of optimized, data-driven solar project designs that shape high-impact utility-scale solutions. You’ll be accountable for guiding early-stage project engineering, providing high quality financially optimized bid packages, and strategically supporting the bid-to-contract lifecycle. This role is the first set of technical engineering eyes to touch a project and prepare engineering details, design, and modeling during the bidding process. This role involves exposure to multiple engineering facets such as electrical, civil, structural, and some high voltage details.

This role requires up to 50% travel based on work location to support Business Development and Coordination between DEPCOM Power's teams.

Our Team The Project Development Engineering team is a high-functioning division that partners side by side with the Business Development team to win projects and grow the business. PDE’s are responsible for the up-front technical engineering diligence, design, and optimizations of Solar (PV), Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and Repowering services.

What You Will Do

Lead technical development and optimization for proposals, producing design packages informed by substantiated value engineering choices to goal seek for lowest LCOE or highest ATIRR, supporting customer goals and strategy.

Direct site plan creation and client approval processes prior to project turnover to the Operations Team.

Own the development of site-specific design parameters, non-standard item evaluation, and P(50) energy production estimates using industry-standard tools (e.g., PVSyst).

Serve as technical subject matter expert during bid cycles, RFP responses, RFIs, and due diligence.

Review and interpret technical documents, site layouts, and one-line diagrams to identify risks and opportunities.

Collaborate with Business Development to prepare turnkey deliverables, including site plans, energy models, and proposal inclusions / exclusions.

Provide sensitivity analysis around technologies and design decisions, incorporating cost-benefit modeling and production trade-offs.

Ensure seamless project transition by preparing risk and opportunity registries that support efficient execution handoff.

Present optimized technical solutions to clients, clearly articulating performance benefits and bottom-line impact.

Support design updates based on as-built conditions in partnership with Project Operations and Engineering teams.

Stay ahead of the curve through participation in industry conferences focused on PV, energy storage, and repowering technologies.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Proven track record in utility-scale PV and/or BESS design

Experience in proposal development and/or early-stage project design

Experience in a customer‑facing role presenting information on behalf of the business.

Proficiency in interpreting and producing technical drawings: major equipment layouts, one‑lines, site plans

Experience working in a cross‑functional team

Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship now or in the future

Valid US Driver’s License

What Will Put You Ahead

ABET‑accredited Engineering degree

Familiarity with financial modeling and understanding of energy project cash flows

Advanced use of modeling software (PVSyst, AutoCAD) and programming tools (Excel macros, Python)

Comprehension of scope of work documents, proposal requirements, and EPC contracting models

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT working toward licensure

For this role, we anticipate paying $115k - $140k per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
