Job Responsibilities
Provide linguistic expertise in syntax, semantics, taxonomies, and NLU.
Develop strategies for labeling visual and language data together.
Create guidelines that enable vendor labelers to consistently label language, visual, and motion data to high quality.
Analyze labeling quality and adjust guidelines as necessary to ensure quality enforcement.
Skills
Knowledge of syntax, semantics, and taxonomies.
Ability to work in ambiguous spaces and develop norms and processes.
Knowledge of prescriptive writing and punctuation conventions for at least one language.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience with transcription and annotation systems such as SAMPA, IPA, and ToBI.
Top 3 must-have hard skills
Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, corpus linguistics, and other linguistic areas.
Experience with SQL, spreadsheets, and other data tools.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Experience with data annotation or labeling.
Programming experience in SQL and preferably Python.
Technical writing skills.
Design and conduct experiments for evaluating data quality.
Good to have skills
Programming experience such as Python, PHP, or JavaScript.
Bachelor's degree in linguistics, language technologies, computational linguistics, or related field.
Quality assurance experience.
Experience with chatbot systems.
Typical Day in the Role
Develop guidelines to produce nuanced data, audit labeled data, drive quality metrics, and report outcomes. May also engage in natural language understanding development elements.
Note
Remote anywhere in the US; preference for Remote, Redmond, Burlingame, or NY offices but not required.
Pay Range: $40/hr - $45/hr.
The specific compensation for this position will be determined by factors such as scope, complexity, location, labor market, candidate credentials, and other conditions.
