Boston University is seeking an Assistant Director for the South Campus Division of Student Life, Residence Life. The role is a full‑time live‑in professional responsible for leading the day‑to‑day administration of a residential neighborhood and fostering a campus environment that supports academic achievement, student development, and community engagement. Location: Boston, MA, United States. Salary Grade: 47. Expected hiring range: $50,075.00 – $65,025.00. Posting date: 12/9/2025. Essential Functions
Lead day‑to‑day administration of the South Campus community, providing direction and guidance to Community Directors and maintaining availability to staff and students during business hours. (30%) Intervene in crises and manage urgent situations, serving on‑call for all residences in the Administrator on‑call rotation. Chair departmental committees and oversee assignments related to residential program administration at the university‑wide and area levels. Serve as a University conduct officer and coordinate all conduct activity within the South Campus community. Train, supervise, and evaluate Community Directors and Administrative Coordinators, creating a cohesive team among professionals, administrative staff, faculty‑in‑residence, graduate resident assistants, resident assistants, and work‑study staff. (20%) Lead initiatives to promote learning in the living centers, including the Residence Hall Association, specialty communities, and the faculty‑in‑residence program. (20%) Required Skills
B.A./B.S. required, master’s preferred, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service, organizational and problem‑solving skills; attention to detail. Cover Letter
