Senior DevOps Engineer – Software & Infrastructure The Role
We are the Energy Engagement software engineering team within the Digital Products Engineering (DPE) organization at GM. Our team collaborates closely with hardware, software, and utilities product teams within the GM Energy business unit to deliver a comprehensive suite of charging and energy products and services. Our mission is to rapidly and relentlessly ideate, iterate, and launch the next generation of innovative energy products and solutions.
We are seeking a
Senior DevOps Engineer
with strong software development experience to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring systems, and automation frameworks that support our full-stack applications. You will work closely with software engineers, QA, and product teams to ensure our systems are reliable, secure, and performant.
What You’ll Do
Design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or ARM templates
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and safe deployment of web and mobile applications
Collaborate with software engineers to ensure infrastructure and deployment strategies align with application architecture
Develop automation tools and scripts to streamline operational tasks and improve developer productivity
Implement and manage observability solutions including logging, metrics, tracing, and real user monitoring (RUM)
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and security best practices across environments
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortem processes
Write clean, maintainable code for internal tools and infrastructure services
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to DevOps best practices across the organization
Stay current with emerging DevOps technologies and industry trends
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
At least 7 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
3+ years with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and IaC tools
5+ years scripting or programming in Python, Bash, or similar
Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
Understanding of networking, security, and system administration fundamentals
Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset
Experience working in Agile environments and cross‑functional teams
