Genitor, on behalf of The Royal Danish Collection, is looking for an ambitious and academically well-grounded Head of Research, Exhibitions and Collections.

Do you want to lead one of Europe’s most significant royal collections during a period of growth and transformation? And do you possess both leadership skills and significant museum expertise?

The Royal Danish Collection is seeking a Head of Research, Exhibitions and Collections Department who can lead a strong professional environment and develop and realise ambitious exhibitions.

You will be the head of a newly established department that spans across research, collections, and curation to museum interpretation, library and design. The department consists of six heads and 30 employees, giving you a varied workday with a broad range of interactions and professional disciplines.

In addition to daily management and operations, you will play a key role in fulfilling The Royal Danish Collection’s 2030 strategy and in developing and implementing exhibition programmes. You will be part of the executive management and join a dedicated and collaborative leadership group with a strong focus on creating good and transparent processes across disciplines and locations.

The Royal Danish Collection is currently in a period of exciting organisational change, major development ambitions and increasing visitor numbers. This calls for both professional and cross-functional leadership as well as commercial and communication skills.

We would like to hear from you if you have:

Documented leadership experience, including managing managers and complex change management - preferably with a certified a leadership education

Strong museum expertise and preferably experience with court studies and The Royal Danish Collection’s field of research

Understanding of financial management, planning, and compliance

Solid organisational acumen and an eye for cross-functional processes and collaboration

An open and inclusive leadership style with a focus on trust and ownership at all levels

International experience and outlook.

About The Royal Danish Collection The Royal Danish Collection is an independent institution with approximately 300 employees. The organisation is responsible for museum interpretation and exhibition activities for the Amalienborg Museum, Christiansborg Palace, The Hermitage Palace, Koldinghus, Fredensborg Palace, and Rosenborg Castle. The mission is to disseminate the history of the monarchy through exhibitions, events, research, and a unique collection of paintings, furniture, costumes, crowns, crown jewels, and other cultural treasures related to the Danish Royal Family from the reign of Christian IV to present day.
