The City of Phoenix established the Office of Accountability and Transparency (OAT) to receive complaints and commendations regarding the Phoenix Police Department, to review Department administrative investigations into misconduct and community member complaints, to mediate complaints between the community members and the Department, and to engage in community outreach and support of impacted community members. OAT issues regular review reports of Department administrative investigations that often include recommendations to the Police Chief, Mayor, City Council, and the City Manager's Office to improve future administrative investigations. OAT also participates in the process of reviewing Department policy, training, and disciplinary issues and makes recommendations to advance the mission of the City of Phoenix and the perspective of the community. OAT is seeking a dynamic and experienced administrator and leader to serve as the Deputy Director. This is a high impact role responsible for managing daily operations, guiding internal strategic initiatives, and representing the department in both internal and community facing settings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience with and understanding of municipal government processes including HR, procurement, budget and research, and engagement with elected officials.
Responsibilities
Coordinate with OAT leadership to achieve department goals.
Develop and standardize internal procedures for improved performance.
Attend and lead meetings, community events, and public forums.
Respond to public inquiries and assist with resolutions.
Supervise, train, and evaluate staff performance.
Review and finalize reports, studies, and publications.
Maintain deep knowledge of laws, ordinances, and police operations.
Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
SALARY
Up to $160,202 annually.
