About The Team & Role Auger is seeking a commercially minded finance leader to help us navigate the complex world of enterprise procurement and contracting — from structuring deal terms to partnering with customer procurement teams during the sales cycle.
As Director of Commercial Strategy, you will sit at the intersection of Finance, Legal, and Sales, guiding the negotiation of commercial terms, pricing structures, and contractual frameworks that enable Auger to scale efficiently and close deals faster. Unlike traditional procurement roles that focus on vendor spend, this position will focus on how Auger designs and lands multi-year partnerships with enterprise customers — ensuring that our contracts are financially sound, strategically structured, and compliant with internal and customer requirements.
This role reports to the CFO and works closely with legal, finance, and customer engagement teams. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who combines deep understanding of enterprise contracting with strong financial acumen and commercial judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial term structuring for enterprise customer contracts, including pricing, payment terms, and financial risk mitigation.
Serve as the bridge between Sales, Legal, and Finance during deal cycles, ensuring commercial terms align with both customer procurement requirements and Auger’s financial policies.
Partner with Customer Engagement leadership to design and maintain a consistent pricing and consumption frameworks that balances competitiveness with profitability.
Support customer negotiations, working directly with customer procurement teams to resolve issues around billing, invoicing, payment schedules, and financial obligations.
Collaborate with Legal to ensure contract language reflects accurate commercial terms, revenue recognition requirements, and risk controls.
Advise on deal structures for multi-year, usage-based, fixed-price, or milestone-driven contracts.
Develop scalable processes and templates for quoting, contracting, and deal approvals to streamline enterprise sales cycles.
Provide financial analysis and insight on deal profitability, pricing elasticity, and customer lifetime value.
Partner with the FP&A team to feed contract data into forecasting and revenue planning models.
Train Sales and Operations teams on commercial best practices, procurement strategies, and financial implications of deal structures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA or JD preferred.
8+ years of experience in commercial strategy, deal desk, contract management, or enterprise procurement within a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
Deep understanding of enterprise sales contracting and procurement processes from both buyer and seller perspectives.
Proven ability to negotiate and structure complex commercial agreements involving multi-year or performance-based terms.
Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally between Finance, Legal, Sales, and Operations.
Experience supporting or advising enterprise deal cycles with Fortune 500 customers.
High attention to detail, business judgment, and the ability to balance risk with commercial opportunity.
Placement within the range is determined by experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary, total compensation may include eligibility for equity-awards or bonuses. The base pay range for this role is $200,000 – $300,000 per year.
