Description The Head of Supply Chain for Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc. in Hagerstown, MD will oversee procurement to delivery, ensuring material requirements for Rolling Stock projects align with contractual dates through strategic materials planning, supplier management, and logistics coordination.
Accountabilities
Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) via the ERP system to support all project phases and ensure timely, localized material availability.
Coordinate expediting and monitoring of materials, reporting feasibility status and following escalation on criticalities.
Plan and coordinate material movements and warehouse operations to meet technical specifications and safety rules.
Create, release, and maintain ERP‑generated production orders for manufacturing, providing clear visibility on material status and production feasibility.
Manage non‑conformities with internal engineering and quality control, ensuring proper material flow through disposition cycles.
Ensure material availability for service and maintenance through MRP launching.
Lead digitalization and automation initiatives as product owner, integrating multidisciplinary teams inside and outside the organization.
Required Skills/Knowledge
Must have two years of experience with each of the following:
Supply chain planning
Production planning and control
Vendor evaluation and expediting
Project management
Contractual delivery schedule negotiation
Reporting and escalation of risks and criticalities to top management
Cost controlling and budgeting
Intralogistics and warehouse operations
Logistics and inventory management within manufacturing
Experience must include:
Processing large supply‑chain and inventory data
Monitoring fulfillment of delivery schedules and managing change requirements
Conceptualizing large‑picture projects and foreseeing challenges
Using supply‑chain software systems (SAP, Oracle, or AS/400)
Managing quality issues that pose manufacturing risks
Negotiating contracts with vendors/suppliers
Reporting to top management
Implementing and following escalation policies for problem resolution
Must have knowledge of:
Materials Requirement Process, including the production planning module
Advanced warehouse operations
Quality management
Accounting module
Manufacturing execution modules
Highly proficient in Excel
Education/Qualifications
Master’s degree in quality control systems or quality management
Two years of management experience implementing and maintaining quality systems within the manufacturing industry supply chain
