Position Summary
The Playbook General Manager is the strategic and operational leader of the sports bar and restaurant, responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while driving profitability and maintaining brand standards. This role oversees all aspects of daily front‑of‑house operations, staff management, financial performance, and guest relations.
The General Manager sets the tone for service excellence, cultivates a culture of hospitality and professionalism, and ensures that every detail reflects the bar's commitment to quality. This position requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of guest service, strong business acumen, and the ability to inspire and manage a high‑performing team.
In addition to core operational responsibilities, the General Manager plays a critical role in sports programming and event planning. They are responsible for curating a comprehensive calendar of sporting events including UFC, NFL, Boxing, NBA, NHL, NCAA, Soccer, and marquee events like the Kentucky Derby, ensuring all are properly broadcasted throughout the venue. The GM also develops and executes themed promotions, viewing parties, and marketing initiatives that drive visitation and enhance the bar's reputation as a premier destination for sports fans.
Essential Functions
Redefine hospitality at the venue while living, supporting, and promoting company values.
Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies, and procedures.
Execute all food operation responsibilities by enforcing company policies fairly among all team members and in accordance with the negotiated union contract.
Lead and manage all restaurant operations to ensure consistent excellence in service.
Recruit, train, and develop staff to uphold service standards and foster a positive work environment.
Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue growth.
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Collaborate with F&B leadership to ensure menu execution aligns with brand vision and seasonal offerings.
Handle guest relations with discretion and professionalism, resolving issues promptly and graciously.
Oversee staff scheduling and station assignments, ensuring optimal floor coverage and operational flow while maintaining full compliance with union agreements and labor regulations.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar of sporting events (e.g., NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, UFC, Boxing, NCAA, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Horse Racing such as the Kentucky Derby).
Collaborate with the Special Events team to plan and execute theme nights, viewing parties, and promotional events tied to key games and tournaments.
Collaborate with marketing teams to promote events via social media, email, and property signage.
