Position Summary The Director of Development leads all fundraising efforts, donor relationships, and revenue strategies for The Salvation Army Savannah. This position oversees individual and corporate giving, foundation support, government grants, major gifts, special events, and capital campaign activity. The Director works closely with Corps leadership and the Advisory Board to grow long-term support for programs and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and manage a comprehensive annual fundraising plan
Cultivate and solicit individual, corporate, and foundation donors
Manage major gifts strategy and support capital campaign initiatives
Lead grant research, applications, reporting, and compliance
Oversee fundraising appeals, events, and seasonal campaigns
Maintain donor database accuracy, reporting, and performance tracking
Prepare revenue goals, manage department budget, and produce regular reports
Supervise Development staff and ensure effective department operations
Engage community partners, support Advisory Board committees, and represent TSA in public settings
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; related field preferred
5–7 years fundraising experience with proven success in donor cultivation and major gifts
Strong communication, relationship-building, and project management skills
Experience with grants, events, and donor database systems
Working Conditions
Office environment with routine local travel for donor meetings and events
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs; ability to sit/stand as needed
