How you make a difference Provide full spectrum of mental health care to inmates, including evaluation, treatment, medication management, coordinate care with onsite medical staff, oversee psychiatric nurses, support transfers, and assist with civil commitments when necessary. Participate in medical review committees and deliver consultations to facility staff, ensuring compliance with correctional regulations and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and medication management for inmate patients
Maintain medical documentation and consent forms in alignment with protocols
Oversee and collaborate with mental health staff, including nurses and care teams
Participate in care coordination, emergency transfers, and review committees
Ensure compliance with facility regulations and maintain HIPAA standards
Additional Details
On-site obligations: Mandatory one day a week; hybrid model discussion possible.
Hours: 1330–1630, totaling 6 hours per week split over 2 days.
On-call frequency: as needed to clarify medications or treatment plans.
Preference for applicants with addiction specialty or community counseling experience.
Experience with corrections preferred.
EMR: ERMA.
No narcotics or controlled substances are ordered/administered.
Compensation: $180–$200 per hour based on experience.
Qualifications & Requirements Education
Doctorate in Psychiatry
Experience
Training and experience providing psychiatric services to adults
Licenses / Certifications
Physician licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment
Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry
CPR Certified
