Highly trained surgeons at The Queen’s Medical Center provide a wide range of surgical services to patients of all ages from throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Region. As a Level I Trauma Center, Queen’s is staffed around the clock with experienced and dedicated Surgeons, Anesthesiologist, Registered Nurses, Surgical Technologists and other health professionals who are ready to perform the most complex surgical procedures.

Surgeries are performed for both inpatient and outpatient procedures, including in the areas of cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, gynecology, otolaryngology, dental/maxillofacial, plastic, trauma and general surgery.

The Queen’s Medical Center is a national leader in robotic surgery, utilizing the da Vinci Xi® surgical system to advance minimally invasive surgery for highly complex, multi and single‑quadrant surgical procedures. Our advanced robotic systems give doctors greater control and vision during surgery, allowing them to perform safe, less invasive, and precise surgical procedures.

Queen’s features 17 state‑of‑the‑art operating rooms, including three that are equipped for open‑heart procedures and two with the latest technology used to perform minimally invasive surgery.

Job Summary / Responsibilities Provides high‑quality, coordinated, comprehensive, team‑based, and patient‑centered care for patients of The Queen’s Health System’s hospitals and clinics, and other hospitals and clinics, as applicable, in the area of Orthopedic Surgery – Spine. Responsible for diagnosing and prescribing a course of treatment, surgery, and therapy for patients with disorders, malformations, diseases and/or injuries to the musculoskeletal system, with a focus and/or interest in orthopedic spine conditions. Engages in academic medical/clinical education, training, supervision, evaluation, and research. Works cooperatively within collaborative practice models. Supports the vision and values to enhance the provision of quality health care and optimize the health status of QHS patients, and supports The Queen’s Medical Center’s (QMC) mission to fulfill the intent of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to provide in perpetuity quality health care services to improve the well‑being of Native Hawaiians and all of the people of Hawai`i.

Minimum Qualifications Education, Certification, and Licensure

Current Hawaii State license as an APRN or Physician Assistant in good standing

If licensed as an APRN, specialty board certification aligned with area of assignment is required

Depending on area of assignment, prescriptive authority for non‑controlled and controlled substances may be required

Depending on area of assignment, additional certification(s) may be required

Credentialing and privileging required if providing medical level of care

Current BLS certification

Experience

If licensed as an APRN, two (2) years nursing experience or successful completion of an APRN Fellowship Program for any APRN position

One (1) year of clinical experience working as an APRN or Physician Assistant preferred

Current board certification in one (1) of the following:

Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)

Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)

Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)

Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)

Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACNS)

Adult Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGCNS)

Prescriptive authority for non‑controlled and controlled substances

Current ACLS certification

Clinical base annual salary: $153,878.00
