We are seeking a results-driven Director of Actuaryto lead strategic actuarial initiatives for dental and vision insurance products. This leadership role will shape enterprise pricing strategy, influence product development and network reimbursement, and drive profitability. The ideal candidate combines deep actuarial expertise with strong business acumen and excels at guiding teams and collaborating with senior executives to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Executive Partnership

Serve as the primary actuarial leader for dental and vision lines, aligning actuarial strategy with corporate objectives and growth plans.

Advise executive leadership on market trends, pricing strategies, and risk management to inform enterprise-level decisions.

Present complex actuarial analyses and predictive insights in clear, actionable terms to senior stakeholders.

Contribute to enterprise-level planning, including financial budgeting and forecasting, product strategy, and risk management.

High-Performing Actuarial Team

Provide vision and direction for the actuarial team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Recruit, mentor, and retain top actuarial talent. Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and credential attainment.

Establish clear performance metrics, streamline processes, and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Build a collaborative environment that values diversity of thought, accountability, and shared success.

Reserving, Forecasting & Compliance

Lead reserving methodologies and ensure adequacy of premium and claim liabilities for dental and vision lines.

Drive revenue and claim forecasting and trend analysis to support financial planning and budgeting.

Responsible for annual rate filings, actuarial support for regulatory filings, compliance with state requirements, and ongoing monitoring of dental loss ratio rebate position.

Direct pricing strategy and oversee pricing model development and maintenance for group and individual dental and vision products.

Partner with product and underwriting teams to design innovative, competitive, and profitable benefit plans.

Advanced Predictive Models & Data Integration

Champion the integration of actuarial science with advanced data analytics and predictive modeling.

Develop and maintain sophisticated actuarial and predictive models to support pricing, reserving, and utilization analysis.

Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to identify emerging trends and cost drivers.

Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) strongly preferred; ASA with significant leadership experience considered.

15+ years of actuarial experience, including leadership roles and a strong focus on dental and/or vision insurance.

Proven ability to influence strategic decisions and lead cross-functional teams.

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable business insights.

Preferred Skills:

Expertise in dental and vision claims data, provider networks, and benefit structures.

Experience with Massachusetts regulatory filings and rate development.

Strong business acumen and ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment.

The target hiring range for this role is $196,690-231,400 (Annually). The starting base salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and other job-related factors.
