About the Job:
Our teams are essential in assisting with the care and treatment of critically ill or injured animals.
Key Responsibilities Emergency Room
Triage and prioritize incoming patients; communicate findings using SOAP notes.
Monitor vitals (TPR, BP, SpO2, ECG) and recognize critical changes.
Administer emergency treatments, including fluids, oxygen, transfusions, and wound care.
Place IV/IO/central lines and assist in emergency surgeries (GDV, FBs, laceration repair).
Perform in-house diagnostics (labs, cytology, blood gases).
Handle and restrain patients safely; assist with crash cart readiness.
Support pet owners with updates and discharge instructions.
Critical Care Unit
Provide intensive nursing care to critical and post‑op patients.
Administer meds (IV, IM, SQ, PO); manage CRIs, TPN, and transfusions.
Conduct detailed patient assessments and communicate during rounds.
Maintain sterile CCU protocols and provide emotional support and updates to pet parents.
Basic Requirements
High school diploma.
Active Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in California.
Minimum of 5+ years in emergency and critical care veterinary medicine, or at least 10 years in general practice with demonstrated advanced technical skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating tact, patience, and professional courtesy while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and related calculations.
Work Schedule
Full‑time position – Swing and Overnight schedules available.
4/10 or 3/12 schedule available.
One weekend shift required.
Compensation and Benefits
$29.00 - $40.00 hourly plus shift differentials.
$5.50/hour paid differential for hours worked between 6pm and 6am.
