About The Role The Associate Teacher assists the teachers and/or Center Director and assumes responsibility for general supervision, development and education of children at our Toyon Center which provides a unique Dual Language Immersion EHS program with an emphasis on Environmental Education programming. EHS is a federally funded school readiness and family support program for low-income and special needs children that promotes parents/guardians as the primary educator of the child.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this Dual Language Immersion center you will be a language model as assigned by program design. Language models will be using either Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin during their working hours at the center.
Develops and assists in planning, preparing and implementing lesson plans to execute current program goals in both indoor and outdoor environment curriculum.
Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
Performs primary caregiving responsibilities.
Assists in the completion of the Desired Results process.
Assists in maintaining the environment in a clean, safe manner.
Assumes responsibility for regular parent communication, including parent conferences and chatters.
Supervises Teacher Aides, Substitute Teachers and Volunteers as requested.
Assumes responsibilities in absence of Teacher, or Center Director.
Assumes general responsibility for health, safety, and well-being of all children in the agency.
Prepares written reports as directed.
Greets children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
Ensures personalized special services are provided to children with special needs (i.e., feeding, assistance with toileting, including diapering, specialized equipment and so forth).
Attends required classroom, center, and organization meetings.
Assists other centers when requested.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Associate Teacher Permit or higher credential
1 year prior experience in working with young children is preferred
Bi-literate in Spanish (required) and/or Mandarin, Vietnamese (preferred)
Immunization records that comply with Senate Bill 792 (immunity for measles, pertussis, and influenza)
Required CPR/First Aid Training Certification
16 hours of health and safety training which includes 1 hour of nutrition training
Required to be a mandated abuse reporter
Compensation $33.63—$33.63 USD
Additional Requirements
Must pass a health screening and TB test
Must pass background fingerprint clearance
Valid Driver License
Must be 18 years or older
The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties
