Job Title: Senior Penetration Testing Consultant

Department: Red Team

Location: Remote with occasional on site when required

Job Type: Full-time

Reports To: Lead Penetration Testing Consultant

Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE

Job Summary

As a Senior Penetration Testing Consultant, responsible for conducting advanced penetration tests and security assessments of our clients’ systems, networks, and applications. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience and expertise in offensive cybersecurity techniques to identify vulnerabilities, assess risks, and recommend security enhancements. You will collaborate closely with the Lead Penetration Testing Consultant and other team members to deliver high‑quality security assessments.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Penetration Testing Expertise:
    • Lead and perform advanced penetration testing assessments, including complex network assessments, application security assessments, and specialised tests.
    • Utilise cutting‑edge tools and techniques to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in systems, networks, and applications.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Collaborate with clients to define project scopes, objectives, and expectations for penetration testing engagements.
    • Conduct pre‑engagement meetings to gather information about the client’s environment and threat landscape.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Serve as a technical leader within the penetration testing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
    • Review and validate the work of junior team members to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare comprehensive and detailed reports outlining the results of penetration tests, including identified vulnerabilities, attack paths, and recommended remediation strategies.
    • Present findings to clients and provide expert guidance on security priorities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Research and Innovation:
    • Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
    • Research and develop new penetration testing methodologies, tools, and tactics to enhance testing capabilities.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Collaborate with other cybersecurity teams, such as the blue team, to enhance overall security posture.
    • Share knowledge and expertise with team members to foster continuous learning and improvement.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat engagements.
    • Provide expert guidance to clients on improving their security posture based on assessment findings.
  • Project Management:
    • Support the Lead Penetration Testing Consultant in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in penetration testing, ethical hacking, and security assessments.
  • Industry‑recognised certifications such as CSTM, CRT, CTL, OSCP, or similar.
  • Proficient in advanced penetration testing tools and techniques.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and guide junior testers.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, best practices and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically to identify vulnerabilities and security risks.
