We are supporting a confidential defense-focused government contractor seeking a

Senior Systems Architect and Design Engineer

to develop next-generation Command & Control (C2), missile defense, and multi-domain integration architectures. This role directly supports mission-critical national security programs and requires deep experience designing complex DoD systems, advanced data/mission architectures, and multi-domain system interoperability.

About the Role: In this position, you will lead architecture development across missile defense, C2/BM systems, multi-domain operations, and emerging data mesh services. You will shape mission workflows, develop DoDAF-compliant architectures, and create integration patterns across eight operational domains. You will also design system interfaces, produce ICDs, and help drive the technical implementation of a large-scale Data Mesh Reference Architecture (DMRA).

What You Will Do: Develop CONOPS documentation for missile defense mission workflows Create and document C2 architectural approaches using DoDAF 2.0 formats Contribute to the implementation of the DMRA Data Mesh services architecture (15 core services) Design multi-domain integration solutions spanning: air, space, maritime, land, cyber, subsurface, electromagnetic, and information domains Produce Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and API specifications for interoperability Collaborate with systems engineers, developers, and mission stakeholders to align architecture with operational needs.

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM field 10+ years of professional experience in missile defense, C2/Battle Management, or similar DoD system development Expertise with DoDAF 2.0, MODAF, and the systems engineering lifecycle Strong background with C4ISR systems: track correlation, sensor fusion, fire control, battle management Data architecture experience: data mesh patterns, microservices, event-driven architectures, federated governance

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with MBSE methodologies applied to DoD systems Knowledge of the F2T2EA kill chain (Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, Assess) Experience with Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, or Northrop Grumman defense platforms Familiarity with Cross-Domain Solutions (CDS), Multi-Level Security (MLS), and Zero Trust Understanding of CMOSS, SOSA, FACE, OMS/UCI, and STANAG standards Experience supporting JADC2 or ABMS initiatives Knowledge of AEGIS, THAAD, or Patriot systems Understanding of DDIL environments and coalition/partner interoperability Background in AI/ML integration for defense systems (Maven, Lattice)

This role requires an active and transferable DoD Top Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access and polygraph. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearance. Candidates without the required clearance cannot be considered for this position.
