Senior Thermal Manufacturing Engineer - Data Centers. Building North American photonic and semiconductor engineering teams. Acceler8 Talent partners with a well-funded AI/networking hardware startup in the SF Bay Area to co-develop customized networking hardware, optics, and software solutions for large-scale AI workloads in data centers. The company has over $110M in funding and is expanding rapidly. This role focuses on delivering air and liquid cooled thermal solutions for next-generation high-capacity networking systems used in emerging AI infrastructures.

Base pay range : $220,000.00/yr - $260,000.00/yr

Additional compensation types : Stock options

Responsibilities

  • Lead the manufacturing activities for both air and liquid cooled products, providing design for manufacturing, design for assembly, and guidance for cost optimization throughout the design process
  • Recommend fittings, tubings, connection methods, materials, material compatibilities and manufacturing techniques for cold plate loop designs
  • Develop the thermal manufacturing test plan for liquid cooled products
  • Interface with thermal vendors and contract manufacturers by providing support for any manufacturing quality issues that the team might encounter

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in relevant product development and manufacturing experience in mechanical/thermal assemblies; 3+ years designing thermal components and systems for data center network equipment preferred
  • Experience with production line development for computer networking equipment
  • Understanding of cold plate, liquid-to-air, liquid-to-liquid, CDUs manufacturing processes (brazing, leak detection, flow testing, etc.)
  • Understanding of 3D vapor chambers manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing methods such as brazing, soldering, leak detection, machining, skiving, welding, stamping, die casting, injection molding, system assembly
  • Experience in fixture design/development is a benefit
