Role Overview
In this role, the successful candidate will provide supervisory oversight to the R&D team and technical leadership to project teams, ensuring the effective synthesis and characterization of polymeric materials used in chromatography. The position will involve scaling up and optimizing laboratory‑scale procedures for transfer to manufacturing, as well as designing and executing protein purification processes to support both production operations and customer applications.
Responsibilities include analyzing experimental data, preparing comprehensive reports, and presenting findings to diverse audiences. Additionally, the candidate will critically review technical documentation and serve as a trusted subject matter expert within the organization.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Drive innovation in chromatography media design by developing and optimizing polymeric resins and surface chemistries.
Design, execute, and analyze protein purification experiments to assess resin performance and application suitability.
Translate laboratory‑scale synthesis and purification processes into scalable, manufacturable procedures in partnership with Operations.
Develop and validate robust chromatographic methods supporting product feasibility, optimization, and commercialization.
Serve as a technical authority in chromatography and separation science, supporting internal teams and customer‑facing discussions.
What You Bring
Education:
Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Experience:
10+ years of post‑graduate industry experience with a strong emphasis on chromatography media development, polymer synthesis, and protein purification applications.
Proven track record in functional polymer design, surface modification, and materials characterization relevant to separation media.
Practical experience in protein purification workflows (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, or hydrophobic interaction chromatography) and data interpretation from chromatographic runs.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, manage complex R&D projects, and communicate effectively across scientific and operational functions.

Compensation The estimated base salary range for this position is $153,100 to $210,600 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job‑permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
