Join the SBS faculty for the 2026-2027 school year! The Stony Brook School seeks a talented, mission-aligned faculty member to join our Visual Arts Department beginning in August 2026. This role is expected to center on our digital courses such as Photography, Graphic Design, Advanced Digital Art, Videography, and more, with opportunities to design and teach advanced electives as departmental needs and candidate strengths allow.
Founded in 1922, The Stony Brook School is a co‑ed Christian college-prep boarding and day school for grades 7‑12 on a 55‑acre campus on Long Island's North Shore. We unite academic rigor with authentic Christian faith in a diverse, global community.

The ideal candidate will possess:
A Bachelor's of Art or Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, Arts Education, or a related field (master's degree strongly preferred)
Demonstrated growth mindset and eagerness to develop as a teacher, mentor, and colleague
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Eagerness to serve in a faith‑based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formation
Expertise in planning and delivering mission‑aligned curriculum and lessons with clear objectives, strong materials, and thoughtful assessments that move students toward growth and mastery
Strong background in digital arts such as photography, graphic design, videography, or related contemporary media
Proficient in professional digital arts software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere) or comparable platforms
Ability to teach both technical skills and creative process, from introductory to advanced levels
Experience building student portfolios and guiding critique, revision, and presentation of work
Desire to contribute to various aspects of school life (advisor, dorm parent, coach, club sponsor)
Beyond teaching, SBS faculty are active members of our boarding school community, sharing in evening and weekend supervision, coaching athletics or leading co‑curricular activities, chaperoning events, proctoring study halls, and supporting community meals. Full‑time faculty typically teach 4‑5 classes, lead or assist with 1‑2 co‑curricular commitments, and participate in our residential life program.
