Responsibilities Perform specimen collection and provide specimen collection instructions, including venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Certification from a nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include: National Healthcare Career Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NHA) American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician (AMT) National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCCT) American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA) Hospital lab information system skills and strong customer service skills. Experience working in a clinical setting. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years’ experience as a Phlebotomist.
