Position Summary:
The Senior Facility Engineer for our Midwest region is a subject‑matter expert responsible for working with the Project Managers and Project Teams managing engineering and design of gas compression facilities, liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, liquid pump stations, gas processing, dehydration, heaters, filter separators, oil / gas pipelines, pipeline metering facilities and slug catchers. They will work closely and interactively with clients including reporting progress and making forecasts for cost and schedule.
Responsibilities
Develop specifications and drawings for assigned projects including design calculations
Develop project objectives, estimates and responsibilities by reviewing client requirements, project proposals and plans, and conferring with the Program Manager, Project Manager and client representatives
Responsible for engineering and design of gas compression facilities, liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, liquid pump stations, gas processing, dehydration, heaters, filter separators, oil / gas pipelines, pipeline metering facilities and slug catchers
Develop service, material and construction procurement scopes of work, evaluate proposals and provide award recommendations
Review vendor drawings for concurrence with technical specifications, project requirements, applicable codes, standards and best practices
Responsible for performing and/or reviewing pipe sizing calculations, valve sizing, hydrostatic test design; hydraulic design, compressor designs, pump designs, etc.
Interact professionally with clients, vendors, regulatory and permitting agencies
Provide support for engineering/design manhour estimates and proposals
Provide support for overall installed project cost estimates
Specify materials and equipment for purchase, using data sheets when required. Write equipment specifications for purchase when required
Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and status reports. Plan and schedule changes; recommending actions to ensure project stays on‑time and on‑budget while meeting client specifications
Ensure project compliance with appropriate government regulations, safety rules, and company and client policies
Can demonstrate a working knowledge of real‑world engineering topics that fall within the engineer’s discipline to the extent that the engineer can competently participate in a technical discussion with other SMEs within that discipline
Mentors and/or supervises engineering staff
Provides training presentations within the engineer's discipline to educate others within the company on topics related to the discipline
Is a recognized Subject Matter Expert on one or more specific topics within their engineering discipline. Expands knowledge in other areas of specialty or discipline, developing breadth or further develops expertise and specialization in one area
Able to run complex engineering calculations applicable to discipline
Evaluates methodologies, best practices, tools, processes, procedures and technology assessing potential fit, benefits, and impacts for engineering work
Provides engineering and technical solutions by using existing or developing tools, methods, approaches and tactics in new ways or by modifying and improving them
Presents engineering research, findings, solutions and recommendations to leadership
Develops and presents complex technical information clearly, concisely and effectively
Works independently under limited direction and guidance
Independently evaluates, determines and applies standard engineering techniques and approaches using independent judgement
Lead projects with multi‑disciplined engineering teams which may include engineering contractors Independently performs all tasks necessary to complete primary design of engineering work
Lead procurement efforts including technical equipment specifications, vendor bid evaluations and recommendations
Lead field engineering efforts or on‑site meetings with clients and other stakeholders
May assist in PM activities on projects or being a PM on engineering projects
Delegate and assign engineering tasks to project teams
Demonstrate experience understanding and redlining drawings including PFD’s, P&ID’s, Site Plans and coordinate with drafters to progress models/drawing packages
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering Discipline (BSME).
Valid Professional Engineer license
Preferred 13 years of professional experience with 5 years in oil & gas/utility industry.
10+ years of experience with turbomachinery equipment (compressors, turbines)
Thorough knowledge of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), piping drawings, isometric fabrication drawings, bill of materials, and general arrangement drawings.
Good knowledge of industry codes and standards ASME/ANSI/API/NFPA/CSA codes (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, 49 CFR 192 & 195).
Excellent written, verbal communication and organization skills.
Understands and is proficient with required codes and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to identify problems and work creatively in a team environment to resolve them.
Ability to respond in a flexible manner and to reprioritize work as the situation demands.
Has developed excellent communication skills, both written and verbal through experience
Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team‑oriented attitude
Detailed oriented, excellent organizational skills and time management skills are necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Ability to develop and follow schedules.
Basic understanding of CAD.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including internal resources and clients.
Ability to read and interpret communication styles of team members and clients who come from both technical and non‑technical disciplines.
Willingness to travel as dictated by project demands.
