Responsibilities
Establish database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables, including conceptual design, architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan, and security policy.
Translate business requirements into a logical model that accurately supports and represents the client’s entity relationship and data flow.
Convert the logical model into a physical model by creating and maintaining schemas, windows, screens, tables, columns, and reports that support the model.
Recommend operating efficiency enhancements, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, and maintain recovery processes.
Participate in quality assurance and develop test application code in a client server environment.
Required Skills and Experience
Track record of working with complex database systems and data warehousing solutions.
Database design, architecture, and data modeling experience.
Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) programming and query optimization.
Strong knowledge of database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
Performance tuning, indexing, and database query optimization experience.
Complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers writing and troubleshooting.
ETL processes and tools experience (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend).
Data warehousing concepts and technologies understanding.
Backup and recovery processes knowledge.
Database security, user roles, and permissions experience.
Scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for database automation tasks proficiency.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Independent and team work capability.
Attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality work.
Prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Business processes and requirements gathering understanding.
Mentor and technical guidance to junior developers capability.
High‑paced DevOps environment experience.
Large‑scale enterprise environments experience.
U.S. Citizenship required for this position.
Professional Certifications None required, but advanced certifications in database management systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Certified Professional) are preferred.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Up to eight (8+) additional years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
Citizenship and Security Clearance U.S. Citizenship required. Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance and be able to obtain a government‑granted security clearance.
