Director Labor Relations
Join Xcel Energy to provide multi‑jurisdictional strategic direction concerning all matters related to labor, employee relations, and corporate compliance. As the company spokesperson, manage relationships with local unions, the National Labor Relations Board, and oversee collective bargaining, contract compliance, grievance and arbitration procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
Strategically align and partner with operating company and business area leadership as company spokesperson in negotiations with local and international union representatives.
Partner with operating company and business area leadership to develop innovative and cost‑effective solutions to business problems and negotiate agreements to achieve the business solution.
Ensure alignment of broader HR strategies, processes and practices through effective partnership with HR Centers of Excellence.
Direct the corporate responsibility for maintaining an effective and collaborative relationship between international and local unions and company leadership.
Provide expert testimony and research services on company policy, employment and labor law, bargaining agreements, and processing grievances, ULP charges and arbitration.
Lead workforce relations overall operations, influencing and driving change management processes to improve business results.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management, Business Administration or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
Ten or more years of workforce relations experience, with at least five years of supervisory or management experience.
In-depth knowledge of labor laws (NLRA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII) and Xcel Energy policies and programs.
Demonstrated experience managing highly confidential and sensitive information.
Strong communication, facilitation, leadership, planning, organizational and strategic skills.
Preferred Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations and reporting.
Experience with Time & Attendance platforms and compliance processes.
Compensation & Benefits Starting base pay: $125,900.00 – $200,000.00 per year. Eligible for Annual Incentive Program, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, dependent care, health savings account, transportation reimbursement, disability, employee assistance program, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) plan, PTO, holidays, and volunteer paid time off.
