Rydal Park, a premier Life Plan Community located in Jenkintown, is hiring a Director of Staff Development/Infection Preventionist to join our team!

Salary Range - $90k - $95k depending on experience Work Duties

Provides in-service education for employees with emphasis on regulatory guidelines including OBRA, Title 22 guidelines, etc.;

Meets training requirements established by policy, Title 22 and OBRA in terms of necessary hours and topics available to Team;

Provides in-services for team members campus wide as necessary;

Provides new employee orientation for Team;

Provides individualized training when necessary for Team;

Oversight of the IPCP, which includes at a minimum the following elements:

A system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services under a contractual arrangement based upon the facility assessment and following accepted national standards

The primary duty of the IP is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs. To coordinate and collaborate with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee to ensure that an effective infection prevention and control program is maintained at all times.

Collaborate with Facility Leadership and the Medical Director to develop, implement and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action

Conduct outbreak investigations

Conduct analysis and formulate conclusions, identify occurrences, incubation periods, periods of communicability, modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, and susceptibility associated with the infectious disease process

Maintain a system of reporting possible incidents of communicable diseases to local, state, or national agencies as required.

Oversee the antibiotic stewardship program and monitor resident antibiotic use.

Assess the need for, develop and present or oversee presentation of IPCP related education for general orientation, annual and as needed in-services including, but not limited to, the following topics:

Hand Hygiene

Cleaning, disinfection, linen handling, and aseptic techniques during procedures

Specific practices in direct care and ancillary settings

Therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and devices

Use of isolation/barrier precautions when indicated

Resident placement, transfer, and discharge

Environmental hazards

Use of patient care products and medical equipment

Resident immunization/vaccination programs

Serve as a member of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee

Serve on, participate in, and attend Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings.

Be accountable for surveillance of health care-acquired (HAI) and Community-acquired infection tracking and trending for residents, staff, and visitors/vendors.

Participates in the national collaboratives and external reporting to CDC NHSN system, and other post-acute care specific quality organizations

To be successful in the role, you would have:

Clinical observation and assessment skills

Proficient computer skills necessary to complete documentation, review electronic health records and communicate with team members.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, public health, or other healthcare science

Specialty training in Infection Prevention and Control through accredited continuing education

Minimum of two years of nursing experience or one year as a nursing supervisor

Current RN license in Pennsylvania

Current CPR certification

Must meet currently or have completed national training requirements for Infection Prevention and Control
