Position Title: CHIEF ENGINEER Salary: $100,000 - $135,000 Pay Grade: 16 Other Forms of Compensation: Bonus ESFM is the corporate facilities management (FM) division of Compass Group USA, a Gold-level Corporate Sustaining Partner of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), and a Platinum Corporate Member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead and manage all hard facilities operations and maintenance activities within our facility. This critical role ensures the smooth functioning of scientific, production, and formulation equipment while supporting soft services such as custodial operations, client-facing staff, and grounds maintenance. Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all hard facilities operations and maintenance activities.

Troubleshoot electrical equipment and PLC systems.

Manage mechanical services for facilities and scientific areas (FMO support).

Repair and maintain facility, production, and formulation equipment through preventive maintenance programs.

Coordinate fabrication of machine parts to maintain operational efficiency.

Ensure compliance with OSHA and facility safety standards.

Install and maintain systems supporting facility operations (DI water, compressed air, chilled water).

Assist with equipment setup and disassembly based on production schedules.

Partner with outside vendors and manage new equipment installations.

Maintain instrument calibration using CMMS systems (e.g., ARCHIBUS).

Manage spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.

Source parts and equipment as needed.

Support administrative tasks related to ordering and closing work orders.

Participate in safety programs (JSA, SHAP, MESUR, EHS inspections).

Provide technical support to Demi-Grand, Pilot, and Lab operations.

Oversee BMS programs and support facility mechanics.

Capabilities & Technical Skills

Advanced knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating principles.

Working knowledge of boiler systems.

Proficiency in balancing air and water treatment systems per HVAC protocols.

Skilled in mechanical and electrical installation of equipment.

Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment and PLCs.

Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

7+ years of experience in facilities engineering or maintenance.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to excel in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
