Responsibilities

The Senior Transmission Engineer will lead the design of complex transmission line projects, providing technical oversight and leading design staff.

Lead transmission design from conceptual phase through completion, covering EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage‑drop design.

Prepare transmission equipment specifications, data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.

Lead economic conductor‑selection studies, lightning‑performance, and grounding calculations.

Perform electrical‑clearance calculations based on NESC, California General Order 95, and other applicable codes; communicate NERC, FERC, and regional requirements.

Review vendor drawings and coordinate data with suppliers, clients, other disciplines, detailers, and designers.

Participate in schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning; manage change orders.

Apply expert knowledge of transmission concepts, codes, and procedures; devise non‑standard solutions for complex projects.

Quality‑review production drawings and CAD data to ensure corrections.

Quality‑review construction administration; coordinate with field personnel for design‑related installation issues, inspections, and testing.

Lead field inspections, installations, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.

Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.

Build relationships with clients, customers, and contractors; develop new business opportunities and meet customer‑satisfaction goals.

Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.

Lead cost‑proposal and qualification‑statement development to meet financial targets.

Prepare and present project budgets, cost estimates, and performance reports.

Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Ensure QA/QC process adherence and effective communication with other disciplines.

Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

Perform any other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related ABET‑accredited program (or equivalent ABET‑accredited Civil or Engineering Technology degree) and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.

Master of Science degree in Engineering (a plus).

7 years of transmission‑engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.

Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.

Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques, transmission‑design codes, and computer skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM/Revit, Civil 3D, PLS, PLS‑CADD, RISA‑3D, MathCADD).

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks; ability to resolve issues in a team environment.

Demonstrated critical‑thinking and analytical problem‑solving skills.

Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

Willingness to travel.

Compensation Range $140,000 – $230,000 per year. Total annual compensation includes base salary and eligibility for a discretionary year‑end incentive bonus.
