Compensation Business Development Specialist I: $55,250 – $65,000 (varies by experience) with benefits. Business Development Specialist II: $57,800 – $68,000 (varies by experience) with benefits.
Location: Candidates must be within commuting distance of offices in Boston, Baltimore, Houston, Kennett Square, or Chicago for in‑person meetings or events.
Primary Purpose Of Position Business Development Specialist I: Owns accuracy and integrity of customer and account data in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and provides technical support to the sales and account management team. Serves as liaison and point of contact with other functional groups for pre‑deal issues in the sales cycle.
Business Development Specialist II: Owns accuracy and integrity of customer and account data in the CRM system and provides advanced technical support to the sales and account management team. Serves as liaison and primary point of contact with other functional groups for pre‑deal issues in the sales cycle.
Primary Duties & Accountability (I)
Data Entry and Maintenance – create opportunities, offers, and pricing scenarios; manage account hierarchy; handle changes and non‑standard requests.
Utility Knowledge – provide data and technical support to managers with regional utility requirements.
Communication – respond to RFPs primarily by email; liaise between sales and functional groups throughout the data validation process and contract execution.
Process Improvements – assist with ad hoc requests, cleanup projects, new‑hire training, and system testing.
Travel and In‑person Attendance – required as necessary for business needs.
Primary Duties & Accountability (II)
Utility, Market, Lead Source, Product Knowledge – independently determine delivery point and rate class; collaborate on product and margins; manage non‑standard requests with pricing and legal teams.
Communication (External & Internal) – professionally communicate with customers, prospects, partners, and internal stakeholders; ensure data accuracy; send pricing and contracts to partners and customers.
Data Analytics and Management – evaluate current and historic account information; maintain data accuracy; create pricing scenarios.
Process Improvements – advocate for and participate in system enhancement and efficiency projects.
Team Lead – internal resource and initial escalation point for data validation challenges.
Travel and In‑person Attendance – required as necessary for business needs.
Minimum Qualifications (I & II)
Highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills to function in a team environment and maintain rapport with employees and customers.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem‑solving, and independent decision‑making.
Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with internal customers.
Flexibility to work under multiple, daily deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information always.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct customer service experience.
Bachelor’s Degree.
