Opportunity Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi‑site/phase due diligence, planning, concept development, restoration, alteration, extension, and implementation of creative, functional, and sustainable building designs and/or construction of projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include conceptually visualizing projects, preparing drawings, specifications, budgets, and construction documents, developing and presenting design proposals, and managing client relationships. Provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, ensuring documentation and recommendations accurately account for risk, innovation, and future‑ready opportunities. Provides leadership to guarantee responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds industry standards for design, safety, structural integrity, and occupancy.

Your Impact

Prepare and oversee detailed drawings for complex and large‑scale projects showing external and internal appearance and structure.

Provide oversight, collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, environmental data, historical use, and other matrices for project development.

Apply high‑level architectural techniques to identify improvements for construction phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.

Perform professional architectural work and conduct comprehensive investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, buildings, facilities, transportation channels, and operations to ensure conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits.

Develop building construction plans, specifications, timelines, and cost estimates; update designs that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub‑consultants, and clients.

Manage design, construction, rehabilitation, and remediation from project inception to completion, ensuring durability of materials and structural soundness against environmental or human influence.

Oversee the implementation of advanced technologies, building materials, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to assure safety and functionality for occupants and end‑users, implementing future‑ready solutions.

Lead large‑scale architecture projects, ensuring contributors understand responsibilities and deadlines, prepare and oversee budgets, monitor external events, track hours and expenses, and supervise subcontractors and contract work.

Review and approve permit applications, design plans and specifications, integrated management plans, and periodic construction inspections to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and architectural standards.

Meet with public or private entities or individuals to discuss architectural and construction challenges and programs.

Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent or address design and/or construction issues.

Develop a client base for high‑level architecture services, identifying additional business development opportunities.

Mentor staff to support their professional development.

Remain current in latest architectural techniques and practices.

Collaborate proactively with professionals from various disciplines, subcontractors, and building authorities on improvement and development projects.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or closely related discipline.

7–10+ years of post‑education experience in architecture.

Professional licensure or certification.

Proficiency with architectural principles, practices, and design/build processes.

Experienced in building planning, drawing standards, design, and program/building management.

Strong creative, visualization, and technical drawing skills.

Proficiency in sustainability, green building design, and hazardous substance reduction.

Knowledge of construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.

Ability to perform technical computations and interpretations of plans and specifications.

Experience with inspections and investigations of building construction and design.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.

Strong leadership and communication skills with clients, regulators, and project teams.

Capability to provide guidance and leadership to mid‑level to senior team members with QA/QC rigor.

Proficiency in technical writing, office automation, and discipline‑specific design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).

Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills for technical and data‑driven decisions.

Experience coordinating and directing subcontractors to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

Flexibility to manage varied schedules and adapt to changing business needs.

Occasional travel may be required.

Master’s Degree.

Compensation Expected Salary (all locations):

$98,100–$205,410 . WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range and may offer additional benefits and compensation, depending on circumstances unrelated to applicant’s sex or other protected status.
