Job Description The Northeast Environmental Planning & Permitting Department is hiring a mid‑level Environmental Permitting Specialist/Natural Resource Scientist for its New England offices. The position is remote but may require time in offices or client sites as needed.
Responsibilities
Prepare permit applications under Massachusetts environmental regulatory programs, including the Wetland Protection Act (310 CMR 10:00), USACE S. 404/10 and 401 WQC programs, MADEP Chapter 91, and MEPA.
Conduct wetland and wildlife field ecology activities.
Support energy projects—electric transmission, generation, and renewables—as well as state and private‑sector infrastructure improvements and federal projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology or related field with at least 6 years of experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
US citizenship required due to the nature of the work.
Proven environmental permitting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong writing skills for drafting environmental permitting applications.
GIS skills and strong computer proficiency.
Additional background in New England environmental regulatory programs is desirable.
