Actuarial Investment Strategist, VP II - State Street Investment Management
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an energetic professional to be an Actuarial Investment Strategist in our Investment Solutions and Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) group. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing team and apply your actuarial credentials and skills to a multi-asset class investing career. Based in Boston/Stamford, the role serves in an investment advisory capacity for existing and prospective clients across the pension, endowment & foundation, DC, Healthcare and Insurance channels.
The role will enable you to utilize your pension actuarial expertise to analyze and oversee client liabilities, perform quantitative and qualitative ALM analysis, stochastic modeling and design in support of customized asset allocation and client solutions. You will work closely with senior investment strategists and relationship managers to evaluate, design, and support liability based solutions for institutional clients; incorporating capital market assumptions, liability characteristics, and funding policy into a clear-cut and executable program. As a member of our Investment Strategist team, you will also collaborate with our manager research team in the portfolio construction design process. In a client facing capacity you will partner with our OCIO relationship managers and interface regularly with client investment committees and staff as part of the overall investment portfolio and performance review.
Ideal candidates will possess defined benefit (DB) plan subject matter expertise in support of our ALM and liability driven investing models, and de‑risking glide path solutions. In addition, the candidate will also have opportunity to lead our spending analysis and stochastic modeling for our VEBA, NDT, endowment & foundation and healthcare client channels.
Candidate Attributes
ASA, FSA, or EA designation or working progression toward such credentials
Knowledge of pension actuarial formulas, methods, stochastic forecasting and valuations
Experience working with asset‑liability or stochastic modeling platforms
Demonstrate initiative and work independently; aptitude to self‑direct and set priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Highly organized, meets deadlines, with a strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills: verbal, written and presentation; ability to effectively communicate recommendations
Self‑motivated individual with intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic and demonstrated personal and professional integrity
