Position summary:
Responsible for overseeing electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations. This role involves supervising construction activities, quality control, and progress monitoring, while also maintaining communication with the project team. They would need a strong background in electrical engineering and experience in design and related functions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Supporting overall Project Manager by executing project management responsibilities for respective discipline, including developing hours estimates, scope, etc.
Oversee sub‑tasks within their respective discipline for a project
Maintains full familiarity with plans, specifications, construction schedules, and contractor's plans on assigned contracts, the Project Management Plan (PMP), and current safety regulations to be knowledgeable of the project team (i.e., client, consultants, and multiple contractors) responsibilities
Provide electrical engineering support to client's project implementation team
Provides technical expertise related to engineering and constructability, statements of work, cost estimates, proposal reviews, project schedules, change requests, and other items during pre‑construction, procurement, construction, and testing and commissioning.
Coordinates engineering and implementation in accordance with plans and specifications
Documents and oversees processes and projects, ensuring conformance with owner's approved procedures and all internal and external project requirements
Evaluates design and construction for potential risks, develops alternative courses of action, and makes recommendations
Assist in the preparation of final decision documentation for the COTR
Reviews contractor payment requests and internal project costs and makes recommendations
Reports on project status and communicates with client's internal stakeholders
Perform other related tasks assigned by the client and contract manager
Nonessential functions and responsibilities
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Written and communication skills
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
A minimum of ten (10) years of construction or related electrical engineering experience, with at least two (2) of the ten (10) years in the transit industry
Knowledgeable with Microsoft 365
Physical ability to access any of the locations and perform a hands‑on inspection, if required
Must have previous field experience
OSHA 10‑hour Construction certification
Preferred Experience
PE license, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Certified Professional Contractor (CPC) are desirable but not required
Familiarity with rail/transit design criteria and standards
Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Procore
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
