Histology Technologist II/III (ID 137575)
– UC San Diego Health, Jacobs Medical Center. Part-time (50% appointment), variable 8‑hour shifts Monday‑Friday. Compensation: $40.12–$55.30 per hour (annual full pay $83,771–$104,108). Enrollment deadline: Wednesday, 12/24/2025.
Responsibilities
Perform histological procedures per CLIA, CAP, and JCO standards.
Operate rotary and cryostate microtomes, complete special stains, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in‑cell, and electron microscopy as needed.
Gross biopsy specimens and load tissue blocks.
Prepare high‑quality slides efficiently, collaborating with lead histotechnologist and supervisor.
Maintain sample integrity throughout pre‑analytic to post‑analytic phases.
Conduct preventive maintenance, inventory management, data collection, and reporting.
Communicate effectively with staff, customers, vendors; serve as a technical resource.
Assist policy and procedure review, writing, and updating; mentor and train junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications
For Histology Technologist II: at least 2 years experience.
For Histology Technologist III: either 3 years with HTL certification, or 5 years with HT certification, or 10 years without certification.
Preferred Qualifications
HTL or HT certification.
Special Conditions
Must work flexible hours and locations as business needs dictate.
