As the Director of Human Resources Operations, you will oversee daily operations, drive strategic initiatives, and champion a culture of inclusion and excellence. Reporting to the Chief People & Operating Officer, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor, partner with managers to support their teams, and lead recruitment, benefits, and employee/labor relations while supervising HR staff.
Responsibilities
Partner with HR leadership, payroll, and team members to execute the HR strategic plan and departmental goals
Lead strategic HR projects focused on employee learning, engagement, and technology-driven service delivery
Support the Chief People Officer and ensure alignment between HR and organizational priorities
Oversee daily HR operations, ensuring efficiency and high performance
Track and report progress via department dashboards and performance metrics
Provide guidance on employee relations and labor union matters; manage investigations, disciplinary actions, and complaint resolution
Advise hiring managers on salary recommendations using market data and internal benchmarks
Prepare monthly HR reports and analysis for senior leadership
Develop and deliver manager training on staffing, recruitment, and retention
Administer HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, recruitment, performance management, employee recognition, safety, and training
Conduct exit interviews, analyze feedback, and recommend improvements
Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and best practices
Collaborate with managers on promotions and compensation changes
Stay informed on HR trends, regulations, and emerging technologies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Psychology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
Minimum 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience
Required experience with labor unions; unionized nonprofit experience preferred
Proven experience advising organizational leadership
Proficient in Paycom and other HRIS/ATS systems
Skilled in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
Professional, personable, and discreet, with strong judgment, critical thinking, and integrity in handling confidential matters
Detail-oriented with excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Knowledgeable in federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Multilingual candidates encouraged; French, Spanish, or Arabic preferred
